Do you have a need to change a child's parents/guardians for a custody change such as new foster parents? UpBup now provides Custody capability to enable a smooth transition for a child that is changing custody.

Typically, a provider cannot edit P1 or P2 information in UpBup after the parent/guardian has activated their account. Recognizing that custody agreement changes do not always make it feasible to request the previous guardian to log in and update the child's information in the forms to reflect the new guardianship, UpBup allows providers to easily modify guardian information for a child who has undergone a change in legal custody. Providers can track a child's guardianship within the same record while ensuring old and new guardians can only access their parent and contact info. This enables a smoother transition of childcare when there is a change to the custody of the child

It is important to note that the provider should possess appropriate documentation from the relevant agencies confirming the legal change of guardianship or other information verifying the new guardians of the child before making any changes in UpBup.

This feature should not be used for when a parent forgets their email, or no longer has access to their email. For those instances continue to reach out to our support team by opening a support ticket

This feature can be granted to admins through an edit on their "Admin set up" access or through a Permit

Once provider admins have received notice of a change of guardianship, they can easily change P1 and P2 information and request the new guardian to submit forms following these steps:

1. Navigate to the Admin/Children view, access the CHILDREN dashboard and select the CUSTODY button for the child for whom there has been a change in guardianship

2. This will open the options to edit P1 and P2 information to the new guardian

Once the provider selects UPDATE, this will automatically send an email to the previous and the new guardian letting them know of the change. This email DOES NOT contain a link for them to activate their account. Provider admin needs to request forms for them to receive an activation link.

3. From the FORMS dashboard, provider can REQUEST forms for the new guardian

The new guardian will not have access to any of the previously submitted forms, ensuring the protection of the former guardian's information. The previous guardian's details, such as Emergency Contacts, addresses, and phone numbers, will not be visible to the new guardian. Information about the child will autofill on the forms to ensure key child information is still available to the provider. The new guardian can edit it if there are any changes.

The parent's Form dashboard shows new guardian cannot access previously submitted forms:

Provider will have access to the full forms history for this child, by accessing the forms through the VIEW button

Provider admin can filter on children with custody changes using the "Custody filter" and will always have access to the history of custody changes by selecting the HISTORY button from the CHILDREN dashboard
